Galatasary vs Real Madrid: Los Blancos Secure First Champions League Win ¶
Published on October 23, 2019
Real Madrid secured their first win in the 2019-2020 Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Galatasary on October 22, 2019.
Toni Kroos scored the only goal of the match in his 100th Champions League game, courtesy of an assist from Eden Hazard in the 19th minute.
The win marked a much-needed boost for Zinedine Zidane's side, who had struggled for form in all competitions and were in danger of falling short in the Champions League.
Los Blancos had a promising start, with Hazard making his trademark run into the box and cutting it back to Kroos, who hit it first-time to make it 1-0.
However, the Frenchman wasted the opportunity as Galatasary were still a goal behind.
The second half was action-packed but failed to produce goals in the match as Benzema and Hazard were wasteful in front of goal.
Los Blancos held on to gain three points and moved to second on Group A behind PSG, who ran ragged of Club Brugge by 5-0.
