On October 21, 2019, a disturbing scene unfolded in Kaloleni Estate, Nairobi, when 23-year-old Alex Kilungya returned home from Mashujaa Day celebrations at 5:30 am.
According to the Makadara law court, Kilungya found his mother, Jackline Mumbua Muli, still asleep and became enraged, banging the door and calling her a 'stupid prostitute.'
When his younger sister, Ann Mutheu, opened the door for him, Kilungya allegedly grabbed a Sufuria and threatened to beat her and their mother for not opening the door promptly.
Ms. Muli called the police, and officers from Makongeni police station rushed to the scene, arresting the suspect.
Appearing before Magistrate Angelo Kithinji, Kilungya denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh30, 000. The hearing of the case is set to start on February 27, 2020.
