According to the BrighterMonday Best 100 Companies to Work For report, Kenyans aged 25-35 are the happiest at work, followed closely by those who have just joined the workforce at 18-24.

However, this happiness comes with a caveat - these employees are also more likely to leave their current employer if a better opportunity knocks.

Speaking during the launch of the report, BrighterMonday Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Mutuma revealed that most Kenyans are willing to switch jobs, citing the importance of employee satisfaction in determining a company's overall well-being.

‘In Kenya, employees are most satisfied when they can relate to a company’s vision, have full transparency with management and have flexibility in the execution of their tasks,’ Mutuma said.

The report also highlights the entrepreneurial spirit of younger workers, who are seeking mentorship and coaching to help them grow in their careers.

Interestingly, the gender pay gap still exists, affecting the satisfaction levels amongst women in the workplace, who feel less valued and more likely to switch jobs.

Out of the companies surveyed, mobile telecom company Safaricom emerged as the best company to work for, as well as the most ‘desired’, and ‘respected’ brand.
