On October 22, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta made significant nominations to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).
Reverend Samuel Kobia, a 72-year-old respected clergyman, has been nominated as the Chairperson of the NCIC. This appointment is a testament to his dedication to promoting unity and cohesion in the country.
Additionally, President Kenyatta has nominated Phillip Okundi, a 77-year-old former Rangwe MP, along with Peris Nyutu, Abdulaziz Ali Farah, Danvas Makori, Fatuma Tabwara, and Dorcas Kedogo as members of the commission.
Their names will now be forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting. If they are cleared, the team will take over from former Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo, who has been at the helm of the commission since 2014.
It is worth noting that Kaparo's term ended last year, but President Uhuru Kenyatta extended their term by one year through a gazette notice.
