On October 22, 2019, a 16-year-old boy was arrested and held at Bomet police station for allegedly stabbing his elder brother to death.
The victim, a candidate for this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination, was reportedly beaten by his brother in front of his wife, prompting the younger sibling to intervene.
According to Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander James Kilonzo, the boy was allegedly angered by his elder brother's frequent violence against his wife.
"He had gone to visit the brother and found him beating his wife and started questioning him before a quarrel ensued," said Kiplabotwa chief Stanley Towett.
Witnesses claimed the boy used a kitchen knife to stab the victim, who later died while being taken to Longisa County Referral Hospital.
His body lies at the hospital's mortuary, leaving behind a family and community in shock.
