On a tense Tuesday in Port-au-Prince, a group of Catholics gathered outside a main church to denounce President Jovenel Moise's leadership, calling for his resignation.

Protests have been ongoing in Haiti for over a year, with demonstrators demanding Moise's resignation due to widespread corruption and incompetence.

"Jovenel, make a wise decision and resign. What are you president of? There is nothing in this country. No food, no hospitals, no schools," said protester Fausta Maisonneuve, holding a rosary in her hand.

Moise has faced opposition since taking office in February 2017, following an election marred by controversy.

As the country grapples with a national fuel shortage, protests have turned violent, with various groups, including university students and artists, taking to the streets against the president.

"We see that the president cannot run the country. He is incompetent. He must resign because the social situation has become critical and deplorable," said Osma Joseph, a student of education.
