Former Inspector General David Kimaiyo has thrown his hat into the ring, vowing to unseat Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen in the 2022 general election.

Kimaiyo, who lost the seat in the 2017 polls, claims that Murkomen has been too engrossed in the Tanga Tanga faction's politics and has neglected the needs of the county's residents.

"I will run for the senatorial seat in the 2022 general election, by the grace of God, and I am ready to serve the people of Elgeyo Marakwet because I understand their challenges and I am confident that I can provide solutions," Kimaiyo said.

He also assured that the 2022 election will be free and fair, unlike the 2017 polls in which he was allegedly robbed of victory.

Kimaiyo's decision to run for the seat has sparked interest among residents, with many eager to see if he will succeed where he failed in 2017.
