On Monday, October 21, 2019, police in Trans-Nzoia County received a tip-off from members of the public about a consignment of bhang being transported from Western Kenya to Kitale Bus Stage.

Working on the tip, the officers impounded the consignment, which was packed in a sack containing several bars of soap to avoid detection.

According to County Commander Ali Ayub, the suspect who was ferrying the consignment managed to escape the police dragnet.

‘We got information from the public that someone was ferrying the drug and we managed to seize the consignment but the suspect escaped,’’ said Ayub.

The County Commander commended the public for their role in divulging the information that led to the seizure of the drug.

‘We are asking the public to collaborate with our officers to fight crime such as the use of drugs among our youth,’’ said Ayub.
