On October 21, 2019, a disturbing incident unfolded in Kaloleni Estate, Nairobi, when a 23-year-old man, Alex Kilungya, returned home from a night out celebrating Mashujaa Day.

According to reports, Kilungya had been out late and arrived at his mother's house at around 5:30 am, only to find that she was still asleep. In a fit of rage, he banged on the door, calling his mother a 'stupid prostitute' and broke windows.

When his younger sister, Ann Mutheu, opened the door for him, Kilungya became even more violent, grabbing a Sufuria and threatening to beat her and their mother for not opening the door promptly.

He allegedly threatened to kill them, prompting his mother, Jackline Muli, to call the police and report the incident. Three officers from the Makongeni police station rushed to the scene and rescued her.

On Tuesday, Kilungya appeared before Magistrate Angelo Kithinji of the Makandara law courts, where he denied the charges. He was released on a cash bail of Sh30, 000 and the hearing of the case is set to start on February 27, 2020.
