According to a survey by BrighterMonday, a talent recruitment agency, the average Kenyan salary is a cause for concern.
Released on October 22, 2019, the survey ranked Safaricom, EABL, and UN as the top 100 companies to work for in Kenya.
However, the findings also revealed a stark reality: only 5% of Kenyans earn more than Ksh200,000, while a staggering 66% earn less than Ksh50,000.
Furthermore, the survey found that most entrepreneurs or business owners are between the ages of 25-35, closely followed by 18-24-year-olds.
This trend is not surprising, given the high unemployment rates in Kenya. Many young people have turned to entrepreneurship as a means of survival.
