On October 22, 2019, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge was named the Central Bank Governor of the Year in Sub-Saharan Africa by Global Markets Magazine.

According to Global Markets Magazine, Dr. Njoroge's tenure has seen improvements in the banking sector, which are helping to expand Kenya's domestic capital market.
Dr. Njoroge has received this prestigious award for the second time, having first received it in 2016. He was nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to be the governor of the Central Bank of Kenya on June 2, 2015, and was approved by the parliament of Kenya on June 18, 2015, before assuming office on June 19, 2015.
