Shabana FC has made a significant move in their quest to return to the top tier of Kenyan football by appointing Andrew Kanuli as their new head coach.

Former assistant coach Kanuli, who left the club three months ago to join Kenyan Premier League side Nzoia Sugar, has been recalled to fill the head coach position.

"We have confirmed Andrew Kanuli with immediate effect as the club's head coach. He is very conversant with Shabana's 'Tore Bobe spirit' and his leadership is what the club needs now," club chairman Jared Nivaton told Nation Sport on October 22, 2019.

Kanuli has signed a one-year contract and is determined to lead the club back to the top tier after years of near-misses.

"I have realised that the club is struggling to get positive results having won only one match away from home," said Kanuli.

He will be assisted by Vincent Nyaberi, and their first game together will be against Coast Stima on Saturday at Gusii Stadium.
