Liverpool Dominate Ballon d'Or Shortlist with Seven Names

Published on October 22, 2019, France Football magazine released its prestigious Ballon d'Or shortlist, featuring 30 of the world's top football players.

Liverpool centre back Virgil van Dijk is one of seven Reds on the list, alongside Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Alisson.

Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Sergio Aguero also made the cut, as did Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Lionel Messi, who have won the award 10 times between them.

However, Messi's former team mate Neymar, who now plays for Paris St Germain, missed out, as did Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min's team mate Harry Kane and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

  • Bayern Munich - Robert Lewandowski
  • Ajax Amsterdam - Dusan Tadic; Donny van de Beek
  • Paris St Germain - Kylian Mbappe; Marquinhos
