On October 22, 2019, Bolt, formerly known as Taxify, announced its expansion to Nakuru and Naivasha towns, with plans to also serve Eldoret and Kitale.
This move marks a significant milestone for Bolt in Kenya, bringing its services to all major towns in the country, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega, Thika, Eldoret, Naivasha, Kitale, and Nakuru.
According to the company's official release, the expansion is driven by the demand for its quality service, and the festive season is expected to see an increase in movement across the North Rift region.
“Bolt has had a steady growth across Kenya contributed by our expansion into new markets, which is largely driven by the demand for our quality service. As the festive season approaches, we are excited to make movement for our customers affordable, convenient and safe across the North Rift region, giving locals and visitors more choices to move smartly” said the Country Manager.
Founded in 2013 by a 19-year-old high school student, Bolt has expanded across the world and now claims more than 25 million users in over 30 countries globally.
