Manchester United has been struggling since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, and the club is now looking to revamp its management structure.
Former defender Patrice Evra, who retired from active football just months ago, has been linked to a potential return to the club.
Evra has been spotted with United chief Ed Woodward at several matches, and the club vice-chair is understood to be keen on appointing a Director of Football.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, Evra revealed that there have been talks between him and the club over a new position, but he remained coy about the details.
"I want to make it clear because some people think I'm already working for United but no, there's been some talks. But at the moment I'm only doing my badges. I know everyone is excited to see me back at the club," he said.
Evra also hinted at the possibility of taking up a role at the club, stating that he is having "important talks behind the scenes" and that a decision will be made soon.
He is not the only former player to be linked to a potential return to the club. Rio Ferdinand, Darren Fletcher, and Edwin van Der Sar are also understood to be in the running for roles when United restructures.
