Published on October 22, 2019, Amy Klobuchar's campaign in Iowa has seen a surge in momentum following her strong debate performance.
She emphasized that history has shown that the ultimate nominee is not always the candidate leading in polls at this point, citing examples such as Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.
On Friday, more Iowans than ever committed to caucus for Klobuchar at her events, a testament to her growing appeal.
However, it remains uncertain whether this momentum alone will be enough to make her a viable candidate, and Klobuchar has stated that she will continue to run at least through the Iowa caucuses on February 3 if she fails to make the next debates.
When asked about her strategy, Klobuchar remained tight-lipped, but emphasized her belief that she is the most electable candidate due to her proven appeal to swing voters, as demonstrated by her re-election to a third term in 2018.
Two voters, Tom and Dorinda Pounds, who committed to caucus for Klobuchar, credited her strong debate performance with winning them over, saying that she 'finally got a chance to talk' and 'handled herself really made a big difference.'
