On October 21, 2019, defending champions Equity Bank kicked off their Fiba Africa Zone Five Club Championships campaign with a resounding 96-39 win over Le Gazzele from Burundi in Dar es Salaam.
The match was delayed for nearly two hours due to a clash in uniforms and late payment by the Burundi team, which were eventually sorted out before the game tipped off at 5:30 pm.
Equity Bank's Silalei Shani led the charge with 15 points, while Rita Anyango and Melissa Atieno contributed 14 and 12 points respectively. Izompora Annicka of Burundi topped the scoring charts with 18 points.
Equity Bank will face Tanzania's Don Bosco on Tuesday at 6 pm, while Le Gazzele will take on APR at 4 pm.
