On Sunday evening, a tragic incident unfolded in Kamatungu village, Tharaka Nithi County, where a 36-year-old man lost his life in a brutal stabbing.

The victim, Daniel Mutiria Wacece, was attacked by Muriungi wa Kaindi, a 30-year-old waiter at a local hotel, after Kaindi found Wacece picking termites outside his house.

According to eyewitnesses, the two men had been drinking together earlier in the day, having been spotted at a local drinking joint during Mashujaa Day celebrations.

As the argument escalated, Kaindi allegedly picked up a knife from his house and stabbed Wacece four times on the chest, resulting in his immediate death.

Tharaka South Police Commander Kiprop Rutto confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect surrendered himself at Marimanti Police Station after escaping a mob.

The body of the deceased was taken to Chuka Hospital mortuary, and the suspect is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
