Kenyan Marathoner Patrick Cheruiyot Dies After Dropping Out of Austria Race

Patrick Cheruiyot, a 32-year-old Kenyan marathon runner, has died after dropping out of a race in Austria on October 18, 2019.

Cheruiyot had participated in the Graz Marathon in Austria on October 13, 2019, but dropped out after completing only three kilometers due to a headache.

He was later taken to a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, where he was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma, a type of brain hemorrhage, and died two days later.

Volare Sports, the Australian sports management company that sponsored Cheruiyot, released a statement expressing their condolences and describing him as a talented and dedicated athlete.

Cheruiyot had also participated in the Linz Marathon in April 2019, where he suffered an injury.

His death has sent shockwaves in the athletic community, with many paying tribute to his talent and dedication to the sport.
