Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has been advised by his Rwandan and Ugandan counterparts, Paul Kagame and Yoweri Museveni, to take a firm stance against homosexuality.

According to reports, the two presidents have written to Uhuru, urging him to charge harshly those found guilty of engaging in homosexual activities.

Paul Kagame is quoted as saying, "Gays and lesbians don't need too much politics, just actions."

Yoweri Museveni, on the other hand, has suggested that homosexuals be publicly punished for their actions, stating that homosexuality is unheard of in Uganda.

The advice comes at a time when there has been a rise in reported cases of homosexuality in Kenya, with the percentage of those engaging in such activities increasing from 12% to 28.6% in just one month.

Incidents of men bedding fellow men and courting them openly have been on the rise, with some men publicly passionately hugging and kissing, unashamedly despite being among people.

Lesbianism has also taken a more sophisticated dimension, with victims publicly declaring their stands without fear of any contradiction.

The Rwandan and Ugandan presidents have expressed concern that if left unchecked, homosexuality will soon spread to other countries in the region.

It remains to be seen how Uhuru Kenyatta will respond to the advice from his counterparts.
