Kenyan Marathoner Patrick Cheruiyot Dies After Dropping Out of Austria Race ¶
Patrick Cheruiyot, a promising Kenyan marathoner, tragically died days after withdrawing from a race in Austria due to a headache, later diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage.
Cheruiyot participated in the Graz Marathon in Austria last weekend but had to withdraw after completing only three kilometers.
He was later admitted to a Nairobi hospital with malaria and underwent a CT scan on October 16, which revealed a brain hemorrhage.
Unfortunately, Cheruiyot succumbed to his injuries on October 18, leaving behind a trail of tributes from his fans and colleagues.
Volare Sports, the agency that managed Cheruiyot, described him as a 'modest, kind, and appreciative person' in a tribute message posted on their Facebook page.
Cheruiyot had previously participated in the Linz Marathon in April, where he picked up an injury.
His death has sent shockwaves through the athletic community, with many paying tribute to his dedication and passion for the sport.
As reported by Volare Sports, Cheruiyot was an upcoming athlete training in Kapkitony, Kenya.
He will be deeply missed by his fans and colleagues alike.
