Published on October 21, 2019, Unai Emery's Arsenal side is making significant strides this season.

The Gunners are poised to return to third spot in the Premier League if they secure a win against Sheffield United tonight.

Despite being considered underdogs by many, Emery remains confident in his team's abilities, stating that they are 'bang on course to do something important' this season.

Victory at Bramall Lane would bring Arsenal within a point of champions Manchester City, while a draw would see them lose just once in all competitions this term – at leaders Liverpool.

Emery's team is also making progress in the Europa League, with a home match against Vitoria Guimaraes scheduled for Thursday.

Emery believes that his side is on the fast track to success, with head of football Raul Sanllehi and technical director Edu sharing his optimism.

He said: 'I'm speaking every day with Raul, Edu and the players. And I really think our way is going right and working well.'

Emery's squad has been bolstered by the return of key players from injury, including Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney, and Rob Holding.

Young talent such as Bukayo Saka, the 18-year-old forward, is also being promoted into the first-team pool, with Emery citing Saka as a prime example of the team's progress.

Emery said: 'Little by little we're using the young players to achieve the performance, giving them confidence and experience in the matches.'
