Published on October 21, 2019, Gor Mahia's Joash Onyango has been absent from training sessions for two weeks, allegedly due to unpaid salary of three months.

Onyango, the assistant captain, is not the only one affected as teammate and club captain Kenneth Muguna has also stayed away from training for the same reason.

According to sources, Onyango cannot afford to attend training sessions as he has not received his salary for three months, leaving him with bills to pay and a family to take care of.

"He will not attend training because he cannot afford to," a source divulged to Nairobi News.

"The club is in dire financial straits and he has not received his salary for three months. He has a family to take care of and bills to pay. I don’t think someone who has failed to pay you for that while can demand an explanation as to your absence," the source added.

Onyango and Muguna were in action for Harambee Stars during the team's 1-0 international friendly defeat to Mozambique at Kasarani Stadium played on Sunday, October 13.
