On the eve of the Kibra by-election, Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga has unveiled his education promise for the constituency's residents.
Mariga, who is set to battle it out with over 15 candidates on November 7, handed out mathematical sets and personalized success cards to all students sitting KCPE and KCSE exams in Kibra.
According to his six-point education promise, Mariga will establish a public school in every ward within a year, and form a Technical Bursary Committee made up of parents and teachers in each ward to ensure transparent allocation of bursary.
He also plans to actively seek international scholarships to empower Kibra students, build a Kibra Constituency TVET with automatic bursaries and HELB loans, and introduce a Kibra CV bank to lobby for jobs for the youth.
Additionally, Mariga will progressively introduce a feeding programme in all public schools, supported by the Mariga Foundation.
Mariga will face stiff competition from ODM's Imran Okoth, ANC's Eliud Owalo, and Ford Kenya's Khamisi Butichi, among others, in the by-election.
