On Sunday night, a devastating house fire in Ngomano Village, Masinga, claimed the life of a 53-year-old man. The incident occurred at around 11 pm, when the man's house was engulfed in flames.

According to Area Assistant Chief Josephat Sikuku, neighbors raised the alarm after seeing the house on fire. 'We rushed to the scene and did all we could to put the fire out, but we could not succeed,' he said. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but police suspect that the man may have fallen asleep with a lit tin lamp.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter, and the man's body was removed to Median mortuary in Matuu. In a separate incident, a Form three student at Muisuni Girls High School in Kangundo died after a school toilet collapsed due to heavy rains.
