Published on October 21, 2019, Nyeri County Commissioner Yatich Kipkemei has urged parents to take responsibility in their children's upbringing during the upcoming long school holidays.
Speaking during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations in Kiriti Stadium, Mukurwe-ini Sub-county, Yatich emphasized the need for parents to supervise and monitor their children's activities, particularly their young girls, to prevent teenage pregnancy.
'We do not want to find ourselves in a situation where our girls will be pregnant as schools reopen in January next year,' Yatich said.
He challenged parents to be involved in their children's upbringing, stating that it is their responsibility to shape their behavior and ensure they conform to expected societal norms.
'As a parent, you must know where your children are at any given time and what they are up to,' Yatich said.
Additionally, Yatich assured candidates sitting for the national examinations that there will be maximum vigilance to secure the exams, with enough security personnel deployed at examination centers to ensure smooth delivery and credibility.
