Raila Odinga's Surprise Appearance at Mashujaa Day Celebrations

On October 20, 2019, Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), made a surprise appearance at the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Mombasa, Kenya.

According to the original schedule, Governor Hassan Joho was set to speak, followed by Deputy President William Ruto, and then President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, Governor Joho deviated from the plan and invited Raila Odinga to address the gathering.

As seen in a photo, Governor Joho was seen speaking, with top security officials, led by General Samson Mwathethe, looking on. During his speech, Joho claimed to be a young man of Raila and expressed his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's government, citing Raila's advice to him.

"Raila told me, my young man, let me tell you, there are benefits to being in government, and that is why I am here and I will continue to support President Uhuru's government," Joho said.

Meanwhile, Raila Odinga used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of unity among Kenyans. He stated that the handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta was aimed at bringing Kenyans together, and not for any other reason.

"The reason for the handshake is to bring Kenyans together, as was the dream of the country's founders," Raila said.
