Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has criticized Marcos Rojo for his role in Liverpool's late equalizer at Old Trafford on October 20, 2019.
Rojo was introduced into the starting line-up after Axel Tuanzebe picked up an injury during the warm-up.
United staged a resilient performance against the high-flying Liverpool side, with Marcus Rashford opening the scoring for the home side in the 36th minute.
Liverpool, however, wanted the goal disallowed as they felt Divock Origi was fouled in the run-up to the build-up, only for VAR to allow it stand after a review.
Adam Lallana scored Liverpool's equalizer in the 85th minute, connecting a Robertson cross to cancel out Marcus Rashford's opener.
Giggs believes Rojo should have done better to stop Lallana from scoring, stating, "But for Rojo to actually go past Maguire is strange. If he holds his position maybe he can clear it. He (Rojo) just anticipates where the ball is going to be instead of staying with his man," the former winger submitted.
Rojo's performance has been criticized by Giggs, who feels the Argentine defender should have done better to prevent the equalizer.
