On Sunday, October 20, Manchester United and Liverpool clashed in a highly contested derby at Old Trafford. The match saw Manchester United's Marcus Rashford score the opening goal in the 36th minute, but the goal was met with protests from Liverpool players and manager Jurgen Klopp.

According to Solskjaer, the goal was rightfully given, as he claimed that Liverpool's Divock Origi was only 'touched' by Manchester United's Victor Lindelof in the lead-up to the goal. Solskjaer made this statement after a VAR check confirmed the goal, much to the dismay of Liverpool's camp.

Speaking after the match, Solskjaer made a cheeky reference to Liverpool's decision to play basketball in the run-up to the match. The Anfield outfit had shared photos of their players clad in red tracksuits playing the game on Thursday, October 17.

Despite the controversy surrounding the goal, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Liverpool's Adam Lallana scoring the equalizing goal in the second half.
