On October 21, 2019, seven Kenyan hotels made headlines at the 2019 World Luxury Hotel Awards, showcasing the country's hospitality sector in a positive light.
Among the winners were Elewana Kifaru House, which emerged as the continent's overall luxury hotel with the best scenic environment, and Nanyuki's Maiyan, which topped the luxury private pool villa category.
Nairobi's Sankara hotel bagged the luxury boutique hotel award, while Sarova Stanley emerged as Africa's best luxury city hotel. Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort was named the best luxury beach resort, and Sun International topped the continent's overall list as the best luxury hotel group.
Additionally, Diani's Lantana Galu Beach Hotel was recognized as East Africa's best family beach hotel.
The 13th annual World Luxury Hotel Awards gala, held in Finland, also saw Turkey's Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum take home the overall best hotel and destination award.
According to the award organizers, Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum is a luxury five-star hotel retreat with two private beaches and excellent leisure facilities, offering guests a chance to relax and unwind in a serene environment.
