On Sunday night, President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted a glamorous after-party at the Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa County, following the celebration of Mashujaa Day.
The event was a grand affair, with the park lit up with outdoor lights and a display of fireworks as the President officially re-opened the seaside park.
The park is set to become one of the Coastal Region's tourist attraction sites, featuring the Kilindini Cultural Centre, open-air eateries, and an impressive view of the ocean.
Earlier in the day, the President had held a State luncheon at Mombasa State House, where he mingled with honourees and other State leaders.
President Kenyatta left the country shortly after the after-party, heading to Japan for bilateral talks.
He will also attend the first-ever Africa-Russia summit in Sochi, Russia, co-chaired by President Vladimir Putin and AU Chairman Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi.
Accompanying the President on his trip are Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma, PS Amb. Macharia Kamau, and Trade CS Peter Munya.
