On a thrilling Sunday, October 20, 2019, the Kenya Morans secured the Safari Sevens title by defeating South Africa 19-14 in the final match at RFUEA Grounds.
It was a sweet revenge for the second-string Kenyan national team, who had lost to South Africa in the preliminaries on Saturday.
The Morans dominated the first half, taking a comfortable 19-0 lead to halftime after scoring three tries, with Geoffrey Okwach, Jeffrey Oluoch, and Alvin Otieno contributing to the team's success.
However, South Africa made a strong comeback in the second half, reducing the deficit through Luyanda Mgandi's converted try and Cameron Hufke's quickly taken penalty.
The Morans' victory marked a significant win for the team, reclaiming the Safari Sevens title last won by Shujaa in 2016.
On their way to the title decider, the South Africans had beaten Kenya's National Sevens Circuit champions KCB 31-14 in the quarterfinals and dismissed Kenya's national team Shujaa 19-5 in the semi-finals.
