The SEAgas Mashujaa Day Shooting competition, held on October 20, 2019, at the Kirigiti shooting range in Kiambu county, lived up to the Mashujaa spirit in pomp and prowess.

The event, graced by former Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo and two-time World Champion and 800 meters world record holder David Rudisha, attracted over 60 participants from civilians and disciplined forces.

Despite the anticipated downpour, the 'gods of the skies' held off, allowing the competitors to showcase their skills in both individual and group disciplines.

David Kimaiyo expressed his support for shooting sports in Kenya, emphasizing the need for aspiring licensed firearm holders to undergo training and certification before being issued a license.

David Rudisha encouraged licensed firearm owners to join associations like the National Gun Owners Association (NGAO-K) to improve their skills.

“Some people who own firearms have never seen the entrance of a range since they received their license. I encourage them to make use of such facilities to become proficient in the use of the 'item,” he said.

NGAO-K Chairman Anthony Wahome thanked the event sponsors, including SEAgas Ltd, Subaru Kenya, and Skyward Express, for making the event a success.

Wahome also highlighted the association's efforts in preparing for the 2020 IDPA African Championships, set to be held at the Kirigiti outdoor shooting range, which requires a minimum of 15 bays to host the international match.

The chairman appealed to the ministry of Sports, tourism, corporates, and individual sponsors to help fund the facility to ensure Kenya does not miss out on the opportunity to host the international tourney.

SEAgas Ltd CEO Ibrahim Ndung'u expressed his satisfaction with the event's organization and his pride in being part of the growth of shooting sports in Kenya.

The newly crowned SSP Master Eric Wachira emerged top in the category with a score of 123.20, followed by Robert Nyamongo with 129.06 and Sammy Onyango with 130.05.
