On October 20, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded renowned long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge the Elder of the Golden Heart at the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at the Mama Ngina Waterfront Park.
As Kipchoge was being honored, he was caught off guard and struggled to find the right words to express his gratitude to the crowd of Kenyans who had gathered to congratulate him.
Despite his initial struggle, Kipchoge was eventually able to smile and wave to the crowd, who were eager to celebrate his achievement.
According to a video shared on social media, Kipchoge was seen leaving the event in a dignified manner, surrounded by officials and other dignitaries.
