Published on October 20, 2019, Baringo County leaders have made a surprising turn against their senator, Gideon Moi, and instead pledged their support for Deputy President William Ruto.
The leaders, led by Baringo County Deputy Governor Jacob Chepkwony, argue that Ruto is better positioned to take over the country's reins compared to Gideon, who they say has a long way to go.
This comes just days after Gideon openly announced his support for ODM candidate Imran Okoth in the highly contested Kibra by-elections.
The rift between Gideon Moi and William Ruto has been growing for a while now, with both leaders competing for influence in the larger Rift Valley region.
