On Mashujaa Day, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to complete the projects he started by 2022, saying the public will only recognize him as a champion if he implements his entire agenda.

Speaking in Kibra, Nairobi County, during campaigns for Ford Kenya candidate Butichi Khamisi, Wetang'ula said instead of launching new projects, the President should focus on finishing the ones he has started.

“Instead of launching new projects, President Kenyatta should use his remaining term to finish the projects he has started,” he said.

Wetang'ula cited stalled roads, dams, water, and school projects across the country, saying billions of shillings were being spent on new projects while the existing ones remained unfinished.

“All over the country are stalled roads, dam, water and school projects. There is no need to use billions of shillings on new projects yet the ones already started have stalled,” he said.

Thousands of Kenyans attended the 10th Mashujaa Day celebrations at the refurbished Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa, where President Kenyatta highlighted his administration's achievements in sectors such as devolution and infrastructure development.

President Kenyatta said his administration had undertaken tangible steps to address the unique development needs of the Coast region, which had received more targeted and concerted focus in the six years he had been in power.

Separately, Jubilee Party's nominated MP Maina Kamanda joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in campaigning for Kibra by-election candidate Imran Okoth, saying his support was meant to strengthen the March 9, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
