On Mashujaa Day, October 20, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta honoured marathoner Eliud Kipchoge for his tremendous achievement in the recently concluded INEOS 1:59 challenge in Vienna, Australia.
During the celebrations held at Mama Ngina Waterfront Park, the head of state awarded Kipchoge with the Elder of the Golden Heart award.
However, Kipchoge was left wordless when as they were leaving the venue they found a group of Kenyans lining up ready to congratulate him.
As he was seated next to Foreign Affairs CS Monicah Juma, Kipchoge was forced to wave to the crowd albeit shyly.
The excited Kenyans also waved back at him while shouting in jubilation at the legend who only looked at them not knowing what to say and instead smiled back.
