Manchester United's search for a new striker has led to speculation that they are eyeing Germany international Timo Werner, who could join the club when the January transfer window opens.
Werner, 23, has been in impressive form for RB Leipzig, scoring eight goals in eleven appearances this campaign.
According to UK Metro, Solskjaer will have to compete with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for the signature of the striker, who has been an admirer of Werner for some time.
Werner's current deal with Leipzig expires in the summer of 2023, and the Red Devils are desperate to sign him before then, as they are in need of a striker with Marcus Rashford misfiring and Anthony Martial just returning from injury.
Bayern Munich are also interested in Werner, making it a three-way transfer battle between Manchester United, Liverpool, and the Bundesliga champions.
Werner joined RB Leipzig from VfB Stuttgart in 2016 in a deal valued around €14 million.
