On October 20, 2019, Kenyans witnessed a unique naval tradition as the Kenya Navy Ships conducted a sail-past during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Mama Ngina waterfront in Mombasa county.

The flagship led the procession, conducting a 21-Gun salute for President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Likoni Channel, while the other ships formed a special formation to salute the head of state.

The sail past, a naval tradition dating back over 200 years, involves naval ships saluting the Admiral or Commander-in-Chief.
