Published on October 20, 2019, a security official in Machakos County has been detained and arrested for allegedly losing the keys to a container holding national examination papers.

According to Machakos County Commissioner Elizabeth Maina, Assistant County Commissioner Elizabeth Karitu was detained at the Parklands Police Station in Nairobi on Saturday night.

Ms. Maina stated that Ms. Karitu claimed she had gone to Avenue Hospital in Nairobi and upon her return, found her car broken into and her handbag, containing the keys, missing.

As a result, Ms. Karitu has been interdicted, and plans are underway to replace her.

Security has been heightened around the container, and efforts are being made with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to replace the padlock immediately, with Ms. Maina assuring that there is no cause for alarm.
