On October 20, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will make history in Mombasa as they preside over the Madaraka Day celebrations at the revamped Mama Ngina Waterfront park.
The event marks the first time since independence that a military ocean parade will be conducted by the Kenya Navy, a spectacle that is expected to draw over 50,000 people.
Interior PS Karanja Kibicho confirmed that the gates of the park would be opened as early as 5am, with all necessary arrangements in place for the big day.
“All the necessary logistics, including security, entertainments, seating and parking arrangements are in place and we expect to be a historic event,” said Kibicho.
