Gor Mahia's financial crisis has taken a new turn with the team's captain, Kenneth Muguna, and his assistant, Joash Onyango, being demoted after they walked out on the team.
The pair, who were part of the Harambee Stars team that lost 0-1 to Mozambique at Kasarani last Sunday, have not returned to the club after the international break and are reportedly unhappy with the management over unpaid salaries.
According to Gor coach Steven Polack, the two players have not been communicating with the team manager, Jolawi Abondo, and have been suspended until they meet with the club management to discuss the way forward.
Polack has moved quickly to appoint Joachim Oluoch and Charles Momanyi as captain and assistant respectively ahead of Sunday's Kenyan Premier League match against Kariobangi Sharks.
“It's not my job to know whereabouts of players but the team manager has briefed me that Onyango and Muguna are no longer picking his calls and communicating with him. I don’t know if they have valid reasons for that but I take it as an act of indiscipline,” Polack told Nation Sport on Saturday.
Polack has assured that the team is well prepared for the match against Kariobangi Sharks and that they are good to go despite the challenges they are facing.
