Kenyan Women's Beauty Contest Sparks Social Media Uproar

Published on October 19, 2019, a beauty contest between Kenyan and Rwandan women has sparked a heated debate on social media.

According to reports, the contest, which was held in Rwanda, featured women from both countries competing in various beauty pageants. However, the competition took a turn for the worse when some Kenyan women accused their Rwandan counterparts of being overly competitive and trying to 'take over' the contest.

One Twitter user, @EnochCheruiyot5, tweeted, "Wakenya ni watu wenye ujasiri kote duniani. Huwezi anzisha #Rwandatakeover na utarajie watakubali kukaliwa hapana! #Kenyanstakeover ni lazima itambe mitandaoni. Hilo linaweza fanyika kwa wiki nzima,"

However, not all Kenyans were opposed to the idea of their women competing against Rwandans. Some defended their beauty and accused their counterparts of being jealous.

"Hii ni kosa la kufikiri kwa wakubwa wa Rwanda. Wanataka kushinda kwa nguvu, lakini hawajui kuna watu wengi wanaojaaliwa kwa urembo wao," tweeted @Kalenjin_.

The controversy surrounding the beauty contest has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some Kenyans calling for a boycott of the contest and others defending their women's right to compete.
