Heavy rainfall in Homa Bay county left a trail of destruction, with roads becoming impassable. On October 28, 2019, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang' experienced this firsthand when his car got stuck in a muddy road.
Senator Kajwang' was on his way to a burial in the company of former Kitui Senator David Musila when they encountered the muddy road on Koguta-Sinda Road. The road was impassable due to the heavy downpour, forcing residents to push the cars through the messy muddy road.
Local leaders in the area blamed the national government for the poor road network, which contributed to the situation. The heavy rainfall had also claimed four lives in Marakwet east.
