Barcelona Thrash Eibar 3-0, Move to Top of La Liga Log ¶
Barcelona claimed a 3-0 win over Eibar on October 19, 2019, at Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Antoine Griezmann scoring.
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde made several changes to the starting lineup after two players were sent off in their previous match against Sevilla. Jordi Alba returned from injury, while Samuel Umtiti replaced suspended Gerard Pique.
Barcelona dominated the first half, but were unable to increase their goal tally. Eibar's goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was largely untested in the first 45 minutes.
After the restart, Barcelona continued to control the game, but were not in a hurry to score more goals. It wasn't until the 60th minute that Messi fired home a low shot from Griezmann's assist on the left side of the box.
Two minutes later, Griezmann connected with Messi, who set up Suarez to net without the goalkeeper in sight. Eibar struggled to get into the contest going forward and were unable to stage a comeback.
Barcelona's win sees them move to the top of the La Liga log, one point ahead of Real Madrid, who are in action later on Saturday night.
