Published on October 19, 2019, a devastating attack on pro-government forces in northeastern Mali left six people dead and four missing.
The attack occurred in Aguelhok, where an alliance of pro-government forces known as the Platform of the June 2014 Movements was stationed.
The security situation in Mali has been deteriorating since 2012, with separatists, salafists, and jihadists mounting deadly insurrections.
Despite the deployment of French, African, and UN troops, no military or political solution appears to be in sight for Mali.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the region, which has been plagued by the presence of Al-Qaeda linked jihadists since 2012.
