As the country prepares to celebrate Mashujaa day on Sunday, the government has assured Kenyans of their security and the success of the event.
Coast regional commissioner John Elungata said the government has taken elaborate measures to ensure the celebrations at the newly rehabilitated Mama Ngina waterfront in Mombasa county are a success.
The event, themed 'Nchi yangu jukumu langu, mimi ni shujaa', will be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who will also honor at least 200 Shujaas.
Rehearsals are in top gear, with traditional dancers and choirs preparing for the big day.
Security personnel have been deployed in all critical facilities within the region to ensure that criminal elements do not disrupt the celebrations.
Government spokesman Cyrus Oguna urged Kenyans to be patriotic and work towards enhancing unity and peace.
