On October 19, 2019, a Nairobi magistrate was caught off guard by a man facing theft charges, who showered her with compliments in an attempt to get his cash bail reduced.
The man, in his bid to impress the magistrate, praised her beauty, calling her 'pretty, clean and a black beauty'. He also lavished praise on the prosecutor, describing her as a 'light skin'.
However, the magistrate remained unimpressed and declined his request to reduce his bail, telling him that the bond given to him was affordable.
Meanwhile, in another courtroom, a Nairobi magistrate was forced to warn a man charged with assault from chewing his bubble gum in court.
The magistrate warned the suspect to either chew the gum politely or leave the court and come back later, after he failed to hear the charges read to him and requested the court clerk to read the charge afresh.
