On October 19, 2019, politician Sheila Karembo proved to Kenyans that she was indeed a friend in need to the late Mariam Kighenda.
From camping at the Likoni Ferry channel to being there for Mariam's widower during this difficult time, Sheila Karembo is a true definition of a best friend.
Sheila Karembo took to social media to narrate how she was overwhelmed with grief after visiting Jocham mortuary to view Mariam Kighenda and Amanda's bodies.
'I gathered some courage my friend to get into the morgue and see you, my friend. I felt like moving the cloth a little bit just to confirm it's real that you will not wake up. We lay you to rest tomorrow Mariam and Amanda. I didn't see Amanda it was hard for me. God you know why,' she shared on Facebook.
Comments from Kenyans poured in, offering condolences to the family. Beth Mbuitu wrote, 'The departed souls of Amanda and Mariam, may your souls rest in peace. You have left a painful picture in our lives especially us mothers.'
Mariam and her daughter will be laid to rest later today at their home in Salama, Makueni county.
