DCI Investigates Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa Over KSh 500 Million

On October 10, 2018, DCI chief George Kinoti wrote to the Kilifi county secretary seeking vouchers for payments made to Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa between February 2015 and December 2018.

The Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) had written to Kinoti over fishy transactions in Jumwa's accounts.

According to the DCI, Jumwa and her close associates allegedly received KSh 100 million of the total amount under probe.

Three companies that share the same directors received KSh 312 million during the same period.

The MP was released on October 17, 2018, after spending two nights in a police cell over the death of ODM's candidate uncle in the Ganda Ward by-election.

On October 15, 2018, Jumwa was arrested and spent two nights in police cells after her arrest following the incident where the 48-year-old man was shot dead after rival ODM party supporters clashed.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.
